Jordan Marshall

My name is Jordan, I have been at NFTF since 2019. One day I was talking to PJ and I swore Jesse hired him as a salesman, he was very convincing and somehow got me to join. I was active in high school, but once I got into college, I would work out maybe a few times a month, was on and off with exercise and healthy eating for a very long time. So the thought of going from barely working out, to “those kind” of workouts, scared me.

With that being said, it was a love hate relationship for a good 2 years. I went in with the mind set that if I just did the bare minimum, I would still be in good shape. That is not the case my friends. I was working 60 hour weeks, barely getting any sleep, eating what I thought was “healthy”, and drinking almost every weekend, because that’s what normal Americans do. Unbeknownst to me, I was setting myself up for failure. I was gaining weight at a rapid pace, having a pity party for myself instead of taking the reigns on my own health and lifestyle. I blamed a lot of things, because it’s easier to make excuses then take responsibility for your actions.

It really wasn’t up until the last 4 months and the kick off the 2022 nutrition challenge, that I bought all in. I decided to better myself inside and outside the gym. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of it without the help of our amazing coaches. Just within this nutrition challenge, I have lost over 10 inches and 15 pounds. It is showing me that there is a better, more sustainable way of living.

Whether Jesse realizes it or not, his impact on people goes much further than what happens inside those 4 walls. I would like to describe him as the perfect girlfriend. He knows what’s best for you, even when you don’t. He nags enough to where you just listen, so he will stop. In the long run you realize he was right the whole time. What Jesse and Lauren have built is much more than a gym, it’s a lifestyle and a community of amazing coaches and members. I am honored to be a part of it.

I joined North Forsyth Training & Fitness in late January 2020. I would say for most of my life I have been pretty active and exercise has played an important part of my life. However, after I had kids, I used all the excuses (I’m too busy, I’m too tired, I have no time to exercise) and I put myself and my fitness journey on the back burner. The last several years, I kept telling myself that I need to get it together! Then a friend of mine, Lindsay Studer, told me all about NFTF and how much she loves it. To be honest, I never thought HITT would be the right fit more me, but after finally being sick and tired of where I was physically, I decided to give it a shot. Although I was unsure and nervous, what did I have to lose? Turns out I had everything to gain. This past year at NFTF has been a great experience. Starting out with the one on one’s with Jesse was key. That really set the foundation for a successful entry into classes because there is a lot to learn. There is so much I love about NFTF. One thing I love is that every work out is different. It really helps make it not boring and keeps your body guessing. On a weekly bases, I am sore in places I never thought I could get sore, which means it is working! I also love having Jesse and coach Julie there to guide me along the way and push me when I need pushed (which is a lot). Even when Jesse gives me a hard time and pushes me outside my comfort zone, I know it is because he cares and really does want us to see results. Having that one on one attention on a regular bases has been a game changer, which is one thing you won’t get working out on your own or even with most gyms. I also love having the accountability and consistency which helps keep me on track. The music and energy is awesome especially when he plays old school rap which is my favorite! Most of all I love the people! There are so many wonderful people that go to NFTF that I would have never had the opportunity to meet had I not joined.
If you are looking for a challenge, then I would say NFTF is the place to you. This gym gives you the opportunity to be challenged in so many ways. This past January I participated in the nutrition challenge. It was really hard but also very rewarding. To be able to say you are strong enough to get though the challenge is empowering. And the results were awesome! I lost 15 pounds and 15.5 inches during the challenge. The nutrition coupled with the workouts really do amazing things for your body but also your mind and spirit. It is definitely not always easy but I will say it is always worth it! I would encourage anyone who has been thinking about doing something to improve their health to just take the leap of faith and join! And if you join, I would also encourage you to then commit! Results don’t happen by going every now and then. If you want to see results, then you must be consistent and go regularly! Trust me there are some days I don’t want to go, but then I go and I feel so much better afterward. I am very thankful for NFTF and I hope you can say the same thing, too!

1. How long have you been a member of NFTF?  I have been a member since June 21, 2016

2. What do you appreciate about NFTF?
While on vacation I try to visit a local xfit gym.  In comparison, I appreciate the focus NFTF places on safety, realistic workouts and the outstanding coaching that is always available.

3. How has NFTF had an impact on your life?
NFTF has had a positive impact on several aspects of my life.  From a health perspective, since joining I don’t have health issues or take any medication.  Prior to joining NFTF my weight was higher than I wanted and I had other medical issues; like high blood pressure.  Another positive aspect about NFTF is the family atmosphere.  We all have a good time working out and hanging out together.  At NFTF you become part of a community.  Finally, I have to include that I am in better shape and stronger in many aspects today than I was when I was 20.

4. What would you say to someone who was unsure about joining?
I would list the fears that prevented me from joining... I don’t know anyone – by second class you will know everyone.  I don’t think I can do this xfit stuff – Coaches will not allow you to do anything that will get you hurt or injured and workouts are designed for each individual.  I won’t be as good as the others – everyone cheers and encourages one another until everyone is done with the WOD.  It cost too much – you actually save money once you stop paying for all your doctor visits and medications. If you want to join a safe place that has great coaches, lose weight, achieve goals and improve your mental and physical health, join NFTF asap.
